Collection consists of the combined records of the United Nations Relief Operation, Bangladesh (UNROB), the United Nations Relief Operation, Dacca (UNROD), and some records of the United Nations East Pakistan Relief Operation (UNEPRO). Records consist of correspondence, reports, minutes, contracts, and miscellaneous other documents, 1971-1974, concerning the organization, structure, policies, and administration of UNROB; relationships with United Nations offices and organs; legal, political, security, and economic and social matters; incidents and disputes; relief food supplies; refugees; contributions of aid from other countries; and other topics primarily relating to problems and rehabilitation of Bangladesh. Of note are matters relating to shipping accidents, including many case files by ship name, salvage operations, claims, and shipping accident reports. Correspondents include mission officials Toni Hagen, V. Umbright, B. Oury, and Francis Lacoste, the government of Bangladesh, and others. Also included are files from the office of Sir Robert Jackson, 1971-1974, concerning the operations of UNROD and UNROB. These contain many cables, both coded and clear, correspondence, contracts, photographs, reports, staff listings, situation reports, weekly summary reports (1972-1973), personnel case files, and cease-fire documents (1971), between India and Pakistan.

In 1945, four individuals who had worked on the Manhattan project-John L. Balderston, Jr., Dieter M. Gruen, W.J. McLean, and David B. Wehmeyer-formed a committee and wrote a letter to 154 public figures asking for their opinions about the possibility of the creation of a world government. Over the next year, as the various public figures responded to the letter, the responses were correlated into a report that was released in 1947.
